Six Sentence Sunday — “All’s Fair in Love and War” #SixSunday
Welcome to “Six Sentence Sunday”. Thank you for visiting and especially for any comments you’d care to leave.
This teaser comes from a novella I wrote for NaNoWriMo called “All’s Fair in Love and War.” Shelby and her supervisor, Colin, have a rather volatile working relationship:
“You’re an ass, Colin.”
“And you’re a spoiled princess who needs a reality check.”
They glared at each other as Shelby formulated a rebuttal.
“I don’t need your kind of bitter reality check, because I’m quite happy where I am. It’s a nice place, and it’s just as real as your dreary little kingdom of condescension. Maybe you should get out every now and then instead of sitting all high and mighty in your starched white shirts looking down your nose at the rest of us from the upper towers.”
If you enjoyed this tantalizing little nibble, check out the host site, Six Sentence Sunday, for links to more snippets from some very talented writers.
Great personality and I love the exchange and sense some sexual tension between Colin and Shelby. I’m looking forward to some explosive sexy scenes!
Love her attitude!
Methinks he’s going to take her down a peg or two.
Their exchange is great. They each have a superficial view of the other, but there’s apparently more to them both than that, and the fun (for them and the reader) is in the discovery. Great six, Lila!
Ooo… fiesty wench!
I like that it took Shelby a second to come up with a rebuttal. That’s real!
I’d love to know the background on these two – nice job!
Nice job! Great six.
“kingdom of condescension” — LOVE IT! I’ve known a few guys like this. 😦
This was a great 6 – it definitely left me wanting more! I want to hear Colin’s comeback – something tells me he won’t disappoint! 🙂
Fantastic banter, great job!
Great final rebuttal! Would love to see how Colin reacts to that!
I’ve worked for that guy! Great six!
Thank you Laura, Sandra, Doris, Cara, Ryan, Kastil, Sandy, Meredith, Alix, Stephanie, Natalie, Vivien, J.C., Nick and Gayle!
I’m so pleased to add as a postscript that I found a home for this novella with Evernight Publishing. More to come!
