This teaser comes from a novella I wrote for NaNoWriMo called “All’s Fair in Love and War.” Shelby and her supervisor, Colin, have a rather volatile working relationship:
“You’re an ass, Colin.”
“And you’re a spoiled princess who needs a reality check.”
They glared at each other as Shelby formulated a rebuttal.
“I don’t need your kind of bitter reality check, because I’m quite happy where I am. It’s a nice place, and it’s just as real as your dreary little kingdom of condescension. Maybe you should get out every now and then instead of sitting all high and mighty in your starched white shirts looking down your nose at the rest of us from the upper towers.”
