Six Sentence Sunday — Naughty Fairy Tale #3 #SixSunday
Welcome to “Six Sentence Sunday”. Thank you for visiting and especially for any comments you’d care to leave.
This is the third six from my Naughty Fairy Tale coming June 26th, Tuesday!!, from Evernight Publishing entitled Vixen and the Pea.
Based loosely on The Princess and the Pea, Prince Koldo is being forced by his parents to choose a bride and settle down. They favor a match with Lady Otsana Tixier. Neither Koldo nor the lady herself, however, are keen on the idea. Both have been donning disguises and sowing wild oats in a neighboring kingdom, Otsana as Fleur and Koldo as Bero. Free of the head covering and heavy veils worn by the maidens of the court, Fleur’s identity as Otsana is secure for the time being.
In this scene, Otsana / Fleur is on her way to her second meeting with Koldo / Bero. She’s not the least bit crazy about him. No siree, no way, no how.
She had waivered so many times about keeping their rendezvous, especially after striking His Highness in the crotch with her knee. The decision to come had been settled upon when she reminded herself that Fleur craved the touch of the maddening prince, not Otsana. Fleur was the one who fled as if afire on horseback, disguised as a boy until she reached the village and rented a room of her own. Fleur was the one who bathed with lilac and honeysuckle to rid her skin of the scents of horse and sweat. Fleur donned the sexy clothing of a courtesan and after attending to her pessary, dashed off to meet her lover.
A single rap, then a double, per his instructions.

What a lousy situation for both of them, but especially for her. Great six, Lila.
You can feel her frustration and desire…
Thanks for visiting and commenting, Tempeste! That’s exactly what she’s got going here. 🙂
BTW, I love commenting on your blog because I’m guaranteed a compliment….”What do you think, beautiful?” LOL
Great inner dialog where Otsana struggles with her feelings for Koldo and attempts to justify her actions by blaming her alter ego.
Wishing you great success on the your NFT release. Vixen is sure to be a huge hit!
Thanks, lovey! All my readers ARE beautiful, ya know. This one’s in keeping with one of my common themes that love doesn’t necessarily have to be a choice to give up one’s self, even for a woman in a male-dominated society. She just has to find the right man…but Otsana hasn’t learned this quite yet.
Very nice! Glad you’re taking part and good luck tomorrow.
An interesting twist on the tale. Congrats on your upcoming release! 🙂
Congrats on your upcoming release! I love the inner dialogue and turmoil in this six 🙂
Thank you, Melynda! 🙂
Not to get all analytical, but that really captures the duel roles of most women, doesn’t it? The mom/wife who usually smells of bleach, sweat and possibly baby puke (“horse and sweat”) and the woman who’s possible if given the chance to clean herself up and put on some pretty clothes. 🙂
I love to get analytical! That’s definitely one way of looking at it. I see it as the struggle to reconcile independence with dependence, the selfish needs with the need to please others…so yes, mother vs. lover, provider vs. nurturer, conquer vs. surrender (though I’m analyzing the entire story not just this scene).
Can’t wait to read this one!
Thanks, Kastil! 2 more days! Woot!
Nicely done! I like Fleur
Thanks, Dee! 🙂
Great six. I am so looking forward to this releasing 🙂
Thanks, Doris! I hope it lives up to its predecessors. 😉
This is an interesting twist! Sound like a fun romance.
Thanks! I hope readers think so. 🙂
Fate will not keep these two apart. What’s not to love about this?
Maybe not fate but Otsana’s need for independence. Her dilemma only gets worse, alas. Thanks for visiting me, Carrie! 🙂
We all play roles at one time or another, but it sounds like she’s trying to compartmentalizing her personas to give herself the excuse. Great six, Lila, and congrats on this upcoming release! 🙂
Thanks, Siobhan. Yes, she’s quite the rationalizer, isn’t she?
I really love this premise. And I loved learning about her “preparations” as she remembered. Very sensual and romantic!
Thanks, Dara. If only the dummy she’s meeting had a better olfactory memory, perhaps he’d figure things out. Course she didn’t think of that either.
“pessary” huh? I’ll have to look that one up! Lol Fun six! Lots of anticipation.
Thanks! Definitely look pessary up, Ryan. 😉
